Preservation Project Planning Toolkit for Nonprofits

Is your nonprofit organization planning a historic rehabilitation project? Most local groups comprise committed citizens intent on saving critical local resources from continued decay and deferred maintenance or demolition. These local groups play a vital role in fostering economic revitalization, a sense of community cohesiveness, and grassroots engagement in issues at the forefront of local concerns. Many groups are inexperienced in building assessment, historic rehabilitation using best practices and long-term maintenance planning, as well as ADA and life safety compliance, zoning and land use requirements and energy efficiency options. The Preservation Project Planning Toolkit is intended to help:

  • Create initial planning documents to have a better understanding of your full project, including a Condition’s Assessment and Cyclical Maintenance Plan

  • Become better prepared to apply for grants for project funding
