Field Service Preservation Advisors
Maine Preservation’s Field Service Advisor, Christopher Closs, can offer initial planning advice for preservation projects in Maine. The Field Service Advisor can help a project get off to a good start by providing a property conditions evaluation, recommending a building assessment or energy audit, exploring the feasibility of alternative uses, while directing you to allied preservation professionals and targeted funding resources.

Historic Tax Credits
If you own a building that is individually listed, or eligible to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places, or that is within a National Register listed, or locally certified historic district, you may be able to take take advantage of federal and/or state tax credits for rehabilitation work on your building. For more information about both federal and state historic tax credits please visit the Maine Historic Preservation Commission‘s website.
The Revolving Fund
Established in 2009, the Maine Preservation Revolving Fund acquires significant endangered historic properties throughout the state and catalyzes their rehabilitation by re-selling to private owners who agree to rehabilitate them under preservation easements. Upon resale, proceeds are returned to the Revolving Fund for reuse on future properties.
